RATA PARK presents something of a disappointment for barbecue enthusiasts, though families will find decent recreational facilities. The park offers a sizable playground that keeps children entertained and provides bench seating for supervising parents. Unfortunately, what was once a BBQ-equipped destination has lost its primary draw - the barbecue facilities have been removed entirely. While the grassy expanse and play equipment make it suitable for a picnic lunch brought from elsewhere, those hoping to fire up some snags will need to look elsewhere along the Sunshine Coast. The park serves adequately as a brief stop for families with young ones, but lacks the essential barbecue infrastructure that defines a proper Australian BBQ spot.

Aussie public BBQs are simple to use. Majority of sites listed on this website are gas or electric BBQs. Simply press the button and it will turn on for a set amount of time (10-20 minutes).

You should first check with Sunshine Coast council about the rules and restrictions.

Generally, it is permissible to utilize your own gas BBQ, provided it remains under continuous supervision. However, the usage of Charcoal BBQ's is typically restricted, with the exception of parks equipped with designated charcoal disposal bins.
